Pearl, the white sheer elegant stone from the depths of the mysterious deep blue seas reminds one of many things- class, beauty of nature, sophistication and also the hardships of life, for it is a sick oyster that produces a precious pearl! A Pearl is quite miraculous. Equated with wise thoughts, tears and even raindrops it is a precious stone worn for elegance and class on special occasions by girls, women and also men (in the ring). Writers have given its simile and used its metaphor many a time in many a place while talking about their beloved’s smile, teeth, laughter or tears. The mysterious and precious pearl is now back in fashion. In fact it never went out of vogue.
Worn in a single string by girls and in multiple strings by women and ladies, it can be worn on any occasion, formal, semi formal and day to day. The pearl comes in many colours, white being the most preferred and commonly seen, it also is available in shades of black, grey, off white, cream and pink. Pearl jewellery is also preferred by brides all over the globe because pearls can be teemed with any garment, outfit or attire. Pearls are of many a variety-the classic and vintage Basra, the Natural, The Culture, The Japanese and now in markets the Chinese.


Talking to designers of pearl jewellery, we got some very interesting inputs that shed light on its varieties and reasons for its popularity.
